Contributions To The Fields

During his nearly half a century of Journalism career, he has never compromised with the basic principles and ideas and always stands for the cause of poor and needy people. At the time of severe natural calamities in the State he immediately rushed to the spots and collected the information and prepared the stories on the miseries of the affected people endangering his life.
During 1982 high floods in Mahanadi system and in 1999 the super cyclone in the coastal districts of Odisha, he took extensive tours in the affected areas, made stories of the people and arranged government relief and rescue operations immediately. After super cyclone the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee made an aerial survey and met press people in the Raj Bhawan, Bhubaneswar. In that press meet Sri Patnaik had narrated his experience and miseries of the affected people to the then Prime Minister to seek immediate central assistance. He is also connected with a health related magazine called NIRAMAYA as its Chief advisor and through this magazine he has been trying to make people health conscious by focusing on health related issues.

Contribution To Society

As a lover of the education, Sri Patnaik has interest in the spread of education in the State and he is associated with a number of educational institutions. He is closely connected with the management of Prananath Autonomous College, Khordha, founded by his father in 1959 as a member of its governing body. Now it is one of the biggest non-government autonomous colleges of the State having strength of more than 7000 students. Every year the college confers prestigious State level awards to eminent personalities under his able guidance and inspiration. Sri Patnaik is also associated with Kalinga Bharati Foundation as its Chairman which runs Manjari Devi College of Nursing and Manjari Devi Public School named after his mother. He is also associated with various cultural organizations like SATABDIRA KALAKAR, KHARVELA NAGAR SANSKRUTIKA SAMITI, PEOPLES CULTURAL CENTRE, MEDIA ACADEMY, ODISHA and many others. These organizations have tremendous contributions in the field of culture, religion and educations. Sri Patnaik had also set up a foundation called Barsa Swony Foundation to support the dowry tortured women of the society. This foundation gives legal assistance and financial help to the downtrodden women of the State. In 2016, it took an active role to reunite Barsa Swony Chowdhury, the estrange daughter in law of former Odisha Minister, Raghunath Mohanty and his son Rajashree Mohanty after a long legal battle.
